Our Evangelists:
We currently support
83 evangelists in Ethiopia and India. Some
of these evangelists are converts from Islam
who have been trained to work among their
own people. As a result 425 have been
baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and
there have been 5 churches started. Our
evangelists spread the
Gospel in areas completed
dominated by
the Islamic religion.
Through it all his commitment to
“The Lord Jesus Christ” endured.
Ministry to the Homeless:
Project Mercy: At present, we have more
than 50 homeless families on our prayer and
waiting list. We would love to be able to
assist them in building a simple hut. The
cost of building a simple hut or what they
call a “house” is only between $85-100.00,
depending upon the area. This past year we
were not able to find satisfactory response to
cover this very urgent need.
This young man’s mother was homeless, poor
and starving so he went to the city to live life
as a beggar to help her. Because of one generous
donor who contributed $245.00 we were
able to build a house for them both, buy
back their land from the government, buy an
ox for them, and buy enough grain for them
for a year during the harvest time. And best
of all this young man was able to give up
begging for food, return home and was trained
to be an evangelist. He now goes around the region preaching the good
news of salvation in Jesus Christ our Lord!
AMEN and Praise the Lord!
 | In India, the pastors and
evangelists use the bicycles
to reach other villages. In one
day the average pastor will
travel over 30 on their bicycles
to preach the word of God. |

Meet Getaneh
 |
Getaneh M. Getaneh, founder of Watch and Pray Ministries, is a gentle man whose radiant face belies the horrors he experienced during the red terror of the Mengistu regime in Ethiopia. |
-
Arrested by the Communist authorities for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ
-
Jailed in Ethiopia and in Djibouti
-
Was repeatedly denied food, water, and sleep for days
-
Was tortured with boiling oil poured on the soles of his feet
-
Was whipped with a metal cable during his many years in prison
He eventually escaped prison and fled to neighboring Djibouti. When the Communist government fell in 1994, he returned to Ethiopia, only to be arrested at the airport because an autonomous Islamic court in his home region had charged him with converting Muslims to Christianity. He escaped again, and this time his exile led him to the United States, where he faced the threat of deportation.
Through all the difficulties, his commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ endured.
“Pastor Getaneh is one of the bravest and most remarkable men I know. ...Past Getaneh has been a chosen instrument of hope and progress for victims of religious persecution throughout the world…” Michael, Horowitz, General Counsel of Office management and Budget, President Ronald Regan Administration.
 | Getaneh M. Getaneh and Mr. Horowitz remain good friends to this day. |
